Dear Daisy,
Hope all goes well with you. Unfortunately, everyone here is out of sorts. Elizabeth is down in the dumps because she doesn’t like her new school this year. I’ve told her that it’s not the end of the world and that she’d better just grin and bear it, but I think she likes being a misery guts and so she complains about it every night. John is also suffering from sour grapes because a friend of his got the role in the school play that he wanted. This puts a damper on every meal, so I’m really looking forward to staying with you at the weekend.
