I need a bookcase. I had been making do with planks of wood on bricks, but I wanted something nicer now. My sister, Emma, suggested buying a self-assembly bookcase where the pieces came in a flat pack for me to put together myself.

I knew I wasn’t much good at that sort of thing, but I decided to give it a shot. When I opened the pack, it all looked very confusing, but I was determined to get to grips with it. After a couple of hours, I had something that looked a bit like a bookcase but was rather wobbly. 

To be on the safe side, I asked Emma to check it for me. “There’s something not quite right about this,” she said. “I think we’d better get to the bottom of it before you put your books on it.”

Kitaplığa ihtiyacım var

Kitaplığa ihtiyacım var. Tuğla üzerine koyduğum tahta kalaslarla idare ediyordum ama şimdilerde daha güzel bir şey istedim. Kız kardeşim Emma, monte etmem için parçaların düz bir pakette geldiği, kendinden montajlı bir kitaplık satın almayı önerdi.

Bu tür şeylerle aramın pek iyi olmadığımı biliyordum ama bir denemeye karar verdim. Paketi açtığımda her şey çok kafa karıştırıcı görünüyordu, ancak bununla başa çıkmaya kararlıydım. Birkaç saat sonra kitaplığı andıran ama oldukça sallanan bir şeyle karşılaştım.
